Procrastination is a biatch
Starting your Monday with 2 tech support chats is not for the weak. Especially when at least one support channel is absolutely useless and adds unnecessary confusion, even though I have a 7-year tech background. Hope your start to the week is way better.
10 days ago, I shared with the world my biggest secret. The struggle I’ve been experiencing for the past 2 years with my business, mostly financially. And no, it did not go viral; I did not get paid opportunities or visibility that changed it all. Instead, the video got 8 views. 8 people saw it. Which is 5 times as many people as actually knew the situation beforehand. This is just a reminder that most of us see the final result of success, and not the first steps (2 years deep lol).
This week’s newsletter is a part of my one-year-long digital diary. So that in June 2027, I can look back and see how far I’ve come. And how can I become extremely delusional effective immediately?
Because, at the end of the day, the only limit there is – the one you set by yourself. And I decided there would be no more limits on my journey route.
Well, at least that was 10 days ago. We are in week 2; my life is busy, and I can’t complain, yet I am, as always, finding it hard to focus. I took 3 naps in a span of a week, and I rarely take naps. It felt good, but it also means I slept through tasks on my todo list. And it is a never-ending list.
Naturally, because I did record a video for week 1, it was crossed off my todo. Hence, my brain marked the task as done, and there was no urgency to create the second one or a follow-up for that matter. So here I am improvising. I feel like I’ve been improvising my entire life. Do you feel the same? I think you can relate. I’m sure you, just like me, are doing something in your life that none of the people in your bloodline ever did. Let me know which thing you are doing. And while you are leaving me a comment, I’ll go first.
I am 35, not married, shunned the majority of my relatives very early on in life, and have been living abroad for the majority of my adult life.
So, I assume you already guessed that if I have to go back to where I came from, I will not be in my best mental state. Hence, this series, hence me looking for more work so I can sustain my life in London. And it is not easy. I am always doing things on my own.
Going back to improvising in life.
I wish I had more time in a day and a more relaxed environment to sit down and write my thoughts in a comprehensive manner with more depth to them. But my brain rarely allows me to do that. So here we are.
And I promise to do better a nd actually include more styling in my life rants. I also hope that you already know that my calendar is always available for you to book a call.
On the brighter side, what I’ve actually completed in the first 7 days.
1. I changed my website domain from Fashion Scientist to my name, Aya Lisch. And even got myself a fancy info@ayalisch.com email, because I have a suspicion that all my emails that I was sending from my Gmail account were successfully in spam folder. It also occurred to me that I need to pivot and build a personal brand with more intention. And GoDaddy (love that name) reminded me that my old domain is expiring, so the timing was perfect.
2. I stumbled across a creator on TikTok who is actually giving great advice for creatives on how to improve their portfolio and resume. And it is funny because, in all fairness, the creator did not particularly say anything I didn’t think of or know before. In fact, I’ve been giving similar advice on strategy to my clients; however, I suck when it comes to applying those same strategies to myself. Something I am working on daily. But the tips and tricks are already all up in my handwritten notes. This week, I need to update it all digitally.
3. Finished doing my taxes in Excel. Thanks to my financial advisor, I did not do it on my own, so that was a massive help and a huge level of comprehension on my side when it comes to extremely boring admin.
4. I had my first photoshoot with a celebrity-level person. They might not call themselves that, but I’m just stating facts. It was fun, and I’ve learned a thing or two from it. Can’t wait to share the results. Hopefully very soon.
5. Although I always say I have trouble focusing, I actually had multiple focus days in the first 7 days. Like really packed days.
Days like those really bring me a lot of satisfaction.
Things that went to shit.
1. Content. Just behind. It doesn’t take me much work, but once I procrastinate, there is no stopping it. Even this video right now, I did have a thought of posting it sometime later.
2. PR for the shoot. Unfortunately, the sizing of the majority of items for the photoshoot was too small for the artist, which happens sometimes. There is a human part of the job, and I hold nothing against anyone, but always important to pivot and pivot fast. Which also meant I had to add time to my schedule to go shopping for additional items and then find time to do returns.
3. I had a few rejections for my book and 2 offers, but I am not looking to invest £3000 to publish my own book with the agency, where there are things like KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing) that require zero investemnt. Also, none of those offers actually included any mention of working with the editors and proofreaders. And they clearly did not read my inquiry, because I am not publishing under my name, yet their offers included me in bookstores and on TV. But we keep going.
Actually, it's a lot to have happened in teh first 7 days. And obviously, there was way more work done besides that.
Let’s see how my life can change in 52 weeks if I apply my extreme delusions. This is week 2/52. Procrastination is a bitch.
Never forget who the fuck you are, bestie x
Okay, that’s all.
Love you, bye xo
